Become An Instructor

It’s frustrating when you’re asked to follow a lesson plan that doesn’t suit your students’ needs. Some driving schools might suggest that you push people through their tests in a set number of hours, advertising to students they’ll be ‘test ready in no time’.
Yet you know that things can, and should, be done differently. At Active Driving School Kent, we encourage your students to pass their test with ease first time, not to meet targets but because of their great lesson experiences and your invaluable expert advice. With us, you and your students will create individual lesson plans that teach them how to drive confidently for life, not just on their test day.

Qualification alone doesn’t make you right for our pupils. But you’ll still need to demonstrate you meet the high driving instructor training standards our students expect.
To work with Active Driving School Kent as a franchise driving instructor, you need to be an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), or a Potential Driving Instructor (PDI). Whether you’re newly qualified or hoping to place with a different school, we’re looking for instructors who’ll teach client centred learning methods, not instructor led training. This gives us the confidence that you’re right for us, and can teach our students in the best possible way.
You’ll also need to be DBS checked, and demonstrate that you’re being regularly tested by the DVSA. We don’t expect perfect scores, but we do want you to show your commitment to learning new ways of doing things. After all, it’s our family business with our name on the car, so we need to get it right.

It’s not all about our expectations. Working with us has to be right for you, too. We know when you feel happy and confident in your role you’ll teach to higher standards. To support you to do that, we’ll also provide driving instructor training with a personal approach to suit your needs.
